Redondo Union High School is located in City of Redondo Beach, California. The work on this large campus was broken into six DSA projects bided separately:
Modernization of the Auditorium.
Modernization of Music building.
Modernization of Culinary/ Food service building.
Modernization of Gymnasium.
Modernization of Library and Art & Science buildings.
New Student Union include Student Services Building and Gym & Aquatics Center.
All 6 projects were registered as LEED projects, with each targeting a LEED Silver rating. The Student Services Building includes both a planted green roof and photovoltaic array on the second floor, which are visible and accessible to students. The Gym & Aquatics Center has a solar collector heating system which works with the computer-controlled pumping system to provide the required heating and cooling needs for the pool itself, saving the district over $50,000 per year in gas and electricity costs. In addition, over 80% of the existing buildings to be removed were recycled.
