Project Summary

The Susan Miller Dorsey High School Redevelopment project was Los Angeles Unified School District’s first design-build project, and consists of a new ninth-grade academy classroom building, a new competition gymnasium, and renovation and refitting of the original gymnasium building. The ninth-grade academy building includes thirteen general classrooms, one flexible classroom, one flexible science classroom, and two science classrooms. The gymnasium program includes ticket sales, concessions, locker rooms, team rooms, and faculty office spaces. The new gymnasium is the largest interior event space on the campus. The new gymnasium and classrooms achieved LEED Silver certification and our firm received the 2014 Electrical Excellence Award.
The project was implemented in three phases. The Rerouting of Power, Signal and Gas systems to keep buildings in different phases operational was carefully planned. The As built drawings were not accurate.

Roshanian and Associates, Inc. provided:
Electrical Engineering, Design, Preparation of Construction Documents, DSA Approval, and Support for Bidding and Construction Phase for Power, Lighting, Fire Alarm, and Technology/Signal systems.. A new Electrical Service and Power Distribution System, as well a New Telecommunication Center to house all Campus Safety and Technology headend systems was designed and installed. Fire Alarm, LAN, WLAN data, Audio/Video and CCTV and Intrusion Alarm were specified and designed. The project implemented in three phases.
